David Cameron, UK Prime Minister.

THIS PETITION IS CLOSED HAVING ACHIEVED ITS OBJECTIVE. UK PM DAVID CAMERON HAS PLEDGED THAT THE UK WILL NOT GO TO WAR ON SYRIA FOLLOWING THE UK PARLIAMENT'S HISTORIC VOTE. THANKS TO ALL SIGNERS!

The UK Government is determined to go to war on Syria over the alleged chemical weapons in Ghouta near Damascus - with no firm evidence that a chemical attack even took place, never mind who was responsible. Rather than await the outcome of the UN inspections now under way, the Government wishes to attack imminently. This is a truly Alice in Wonderland policy: sentence first, pre-empt all the evidence how being gathered by the UN inspectors, and never mind the verdict. Following the wars the UK has launched on Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, at huge cost in money, human lives and the UK's international standing, yet another attack on a mainly Muslim nation is a war too far. It must be stopped.
