OSPCA: DO NOT KILL 21 INNOCENT DOGS
The Ontario SPCA plans to euthanize 21 dogs seized from dog fighting operation. In Ontario pit bulls are banned under provincial legislation. Animal advocates demonstrating outside of the Chatham Courthouse stated there are rescue groups interested in rescuing the dogs and doing rehabilitation work. WE DON'T HAVE LONG!
A third party should be chosen and approved by a committee of interested stakeholders and representatives of the public, and have qualified professionals perform a behavioral assessment in each dog.
Also, we need a committee to work with local dog rescues who are experienced in rehabilitation and finding foster and forever homes for these animals, out of province.
We need qualified and respectful human beings to protect the lives of these dogs while such assessments and inquires can be made.
The hearing date to euthanize all of the dogs is set for March 10.
PLEASE LET THE EXECUTIVES KNOW THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!
