The lives of millions of people and the future of a religiously-diverse region are in great danger. Since the start of the Arab uprisings, the trend towards religious cleansing has accelerated:
Iraq: Of the approximately 1.5 million Christians, Mandeans and Yezidis in 2003, only a few hundred thousand remain.
Syria: Armed opposition groups chant, “Alawites to the grave, Christians to Beirut!” Several regions have already been cleansed of religious minorities.
Egypt: In the worst anti-Christian violence in over a century, radical Islamists have systematically attacked more than 130 Christian churches, homes and schools across the country since August 14, 2013.
Under UN Security Council Resolution 1366 and the 1948 Genocide Convention, the international community is obliged to respond to this crisis. The time for action is now. Raise your voice!
