"One of the most beautiful areas of the Algarve is in the process of being changed into a large industrial zone. We strongly protest against it!
The building of a huge 10 MW-solar plant is already very advanced and an additional wind farm is apparently planned in the vicinity. All this in one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Algarve, largely residential, and many people are affected in the districts of Loulé, Faro and São Brás de Alportel.
A wind farm brings health risks to the affected population. Shadow-flicker, acoustic emissions, audible and infrasonic noise can affect sleep and may provoke depression and neurological problems.
We believe that the population living in this area has not been adequately informed about these projects and the works have gone ahead without due respect to consultation with the affected residents. A local petition was sent within the prescribed time limit in the month of August 2012 and was not taken into consideration.
Renewable energy is the future and we applaud all member states for following this EU Initiative but please ensure that the countryside is protected and place these installations in locations that do not affect the local population, fauna, flora and landscape.
We petition the Ministers and the Direcção Geral de Energia e Geologia, to reconsider the decision which has been taken. We want an immediate building freeze and the inclusion of the affected population in all matters concerning these projects and clear information at all times.
Please help us protect one of the most beautiful areas of the Algarve! This concerns us all!
Sign this petition and help ensure the right of public participation in decision making with regard to environmental matters. We, the affected population, feel completely ignored.
We need to act NOW. It is our responsibility to protect this wonderful countryside and our nation's heritage.

Uma das paisagens mais belas do Algarve está em vias de ser transformada numa vasta zona industrial. Protestamos fortemente contra esta situação!
A construção de uma mega central de energia solar de 10MW já está bastante avançada e está prestes a ser construído ainda um parque eólico nas proximidades. Tudo isto numa das mais belas paisagens do Algarve, maioritariamente residencial e afectando muitas pessoas dos concelhos de Faro, Loulé e São Brás de Alportel.
Um parque eólico acarrenta riscos para a saúde da população afectada. Sombreamento, emissões acústicas, ruído audível e infrasonoro podem afectar o sono e provocar depressão e problemas neurológicos.
Pensamos que a população residente nesta zona não foi informada adequadamente sobre estes projectos e que as obras avançaram sem o devido respeito pela consulta aos residentes afectados. Foi enviada uma petição dentro do prazo prescrito, em Agosto de 2012, que não foi tida em consideração.
As energias renováveis são o futuro e nós aplaudimos todos os Estados-membros por seguirem esta iniciativa da União Europeia, mas pedimos que seja assegurada a protecção da paisagem campestre e que estes equipamentos sejam colocados em locais que não afectem a população local, a fauna, a flora e a paisagem.
Vimos, por este meio, apresentar uma petição aos Ministros e à Direcção Geral de Energia e Geologia, para reconsiderarem a decisão que foi tomada. Queremos uma paragem imediata das obras e a participação da população afectada em todos os assuntos relativos a estes projectos, assim como informações correctas permanentemente.
Por favor, ajude-nos a proteger uma das zonas mais bonitas do Algarve! Este assunto diz respeito a todos nós!

Eine der schönsten Landschaften der Algarve wird zur Zeit in eine große Industriezone umgewandelt. Dagegen protestieren wir.
Der Bau eines Mega-Solarkraftwerkes von mindestens 10 MW ist bereits weit fortgeschritten und eine zusätzliche Windkraft-Anlage ist offenbar geplant. Dies alles in unmittelbarer Nähe zahlreicher Häuser in einer der schönsten Landschaften der Algarve, die zum großen Teil unter Naturschutz steht. Betroffen sind Bewohner der Gemeinden Loulé, Faro und São Brás de Alportel, geschützte Pflanzen und Tiere.
Eine Windkraft-Anlage bringt gravierende gesundheitliche Probleme mit sich, da akustistische Emissionen, Lärm und Infraschall unter anderem neurologische Probleme und Schlafstörungen zur Folge haben können.
Wir sind der Ansicht, dass die betroffene Bevölkerung nicht angemessen über diese Projekte informiert wurde und wird. Die Bauarbeiten schreiten voran, ohne dass die Anwohner in die Planung einbezogen werden. Im August 2012 wurde eine lokale Petition eingereicht, die offenbar nicht berücksichtigt worden ist.
Erneuerbare Energie-Projekte sind die Zukunft, und wir begrüßen es sehr, wenn Mitgliedsstaaten der Europäischen Union diesen Weg gehen. Wir halten sie für wichtig und notwendig. Aber es muss sichergestellt sein, dass dafür Standorte ausgewählt werden, die weder die dort wohnende Bevölkerung, noch die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt oder geschützte Landschaften beeinträchtigen.
Wir fordern die zuständigen Minister und die „Direcção Geral de Energia e Geologia“ auf, die getroffene Entscheidung zu überdenken. Wir fordern einen sofortigen Baustop und die Einbeziehung der betroffenen Bevölkerung bei allen das Projekt betreffenden Entscheidungen! Wir fordern klare Informationen zu Umweltprojekten, die uns und unsere Umwelt direkt betreffen.
Bitte helfen Sie uns und unterstützen Sie diesen Appell, um eine der schönsten Landschaften der Algarve vor der Zerstörung zu schützen! Diese Petition geht uns alle an. Bitte setzen Sie sich mit uns für das Recht auf Mitsprache der Bevölkerung bei Umweltprojekten ein!
