Christian Ringnes bought the hole building that contains the apartment of Henrik Ibsen and the museum. Christian Ringnes opens for developing Arbins gate 1 into a whole Ibsen House :) This is very fortunate! Now it's up to the government if and when such a developement will happen. Plans and sketches already exists. This is an unique opportunity to not only save Ibsen but also gather other "endangered" entities, such as the Theatre Museum, under one roof!
The Norwegian Foreign Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, said in his speech at the opening of The Ibsen Festival in Oslo this year:
"Without Henrik Ibsen rich Norway would have been a poor country, a small country. Without Ibsen's greatness and world famous plays - universal, relevant, reinterpreted - we would also be a less known country up here in the north. It might be a bit exaggerating to say so, but I dare state the assertion that the name "Ibsen" is a more familiar "brand" - if one can use such a term - than "Norway", and that many culture enthusiasts all over the world have found their way to Norway, yes - even found the entrance to the Norwegian language - through Hedda, Nora, Pastor Manders, Brand, Peer Gynt or doctor Stockman."
