Save the Swedish wolf!

The Swedish wolf is in danger, and it has been for a long time. From being virtually extinct for the last century, the wolfs have today managed to rise to a population of around 200 individuals. They haven't gone far past this for one simple reason - the Swedish government is hunting them! Giving in to a loud minority of hunters that are harbouring a great hatred for wolfs without any real reason, the government has approved killings of several wolfs crucial to the genetic well being of the wolf population! This against EU laws that prohibit hunting of endangered animals!
For a country of 528 447 square kilometres (about 60% of which are woods), a limit of 200 wolfs is insane! The EU agrees, and has suggested the limit be raised to 500.
While this is not the ultimate goal, it is still an important victory and a great relief to all of us. IF it is realised!
We now need the Swedish Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Lena Ek, to push this change through and stand up for our Scandinavian wolf. Whether or not she will is still a mystery, because she might worry about loosing votes from the small but vocal community of wolf-haters.
Please help us tell Lena Ek that we demand this change and convince her that going against EU in this will make more damage than good!
I am a young woman living in Sweden and grown up in the Swedish country side. While living with miles of deep woods in all directions, I never feared the wolf and I knew that if I met one it would be more afraid of me than I of it.
While some people will claim that wolfs kill livestock and hunting dogs, and even pose a threat to children, the facts simply don't agree! 95% of the wolf's natural diet is moose and other wild ungulates, the population of which is currently the biggest in recorded history. They just need proper packs to be able to hunt as much as they need to! A lone wolf is more likely to go for the easy prey. The last case of a human being killed by a wolf was in the early 1800:s, a time when the wild ungulate population was extremely low and the wolfs were starving! There are plenty of ways to protect hunting dogs from wolfs, killing off the wolfs should not be an option! As for the livestock - more often than not the attacks are made by dogs, not wolfs!
As you can see, the Swedish wolf desperately needs your help and support! So speak out, tell Lena Ek to save our wolfs!
