The Government of Canada: Restore the use of the "People's" Bank of Canada

Public debt is the most important issue facing the Western World and it does not have to be. The Bank of Canada was our interest-free "People's Bank" until 1974, when the Government started borrowing money from private sources in favour of paying interest.
Public debt soared from 18 billion in 1974 to well in excess of 500 billion three years later. There was no need for this and there is no need for Canadian citizens to be paying private banks billions of dollars in interest every year when we have our own bank in place to print money to fund infrastructure, social program, education etc. for the benefit of all Canadians.
