The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MPSecretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media, and Sport, London
We, the undersigned, urge you to facilitate the great Stanley Kubrick Exhibition coming to London. This highly acclaimed exhibition honouring the director's life and work opened at the Deutsches Filmmuseum in Frankfurt in 2004. Since then it has travelled to Berlin, Melbourne, Ghent, Zurich (over 200,000 visitors), Rome, and Paris (over 140,000 visitors). It is scheduled to go to Amsterdam, Prague, and then Los Angeles.

Stanley Kubrick came to England in the early 1960s and stayed here until his death in 1999 (his family still live here). The following internationally acclaimed films were made by him during this time: Lolita (1962), Dr Strangelove (1964), 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), A Clockwork Orange (1971), Barry Lyndon (1975), The Shining (1980), Full Metal Jacket (1987), and Eyes Wide Shut (1999). All were made with English crews.

If a single name were to be chosen to promote the international standing of the UK industry it would be Kubrick's. His reputation today is even greater than it was during his lifetime. It is time we expressed our gratitude and honoured him, and this is what the Exhibition can do.

We ask you to use your influence as Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport to ensure that the exhibition arrives in London soon: summer 2012 would seem an ideal time to make accessible an internationally acclaimed exhibition to the greatest number of residents and visitors.

We had previously created a petition in the site Care2 which has managed to collect 295 signatures already, including many talented people that have worked with Stanley Kubrick but we felt that it wasn't getting the exposure that it needs to accomplish the goal hence we've moved it also to Avaaz.
