The United Nation Independent Expert on Human Rights to Sudan
Subject: Request for an Urgent Action
to protect the Sudanese academician Mr. Abdul Qadir Ismail from the arbitrary
arrest and the risk of torture.
On April 13, 2016, members of the Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Service arrested Mr.Abdul Qadir
Ismail- who is a researcher and educator at the University of Omdurman Alahlia-
from his home and took him to an unknown destination. Prior to that, security
service summoned Mr. Ismail on daily bases for an entire week before the day of
his arrest and leave him in the Security offices, without interrogation since
early morning until the end of the day.
Security service uses this practice in
order to overburden and restrict the freedoms of activists and those involved
in public work.
Before this incident two
academics at Alnilin University (Mr. Hamid Aldoon and Mr. Abdulrahman Abboudy) were threatened and beaten by members of the ruling party inside the campus of the
University.
We-the signatories to the
memorandum- would like to draw the attention of the independent expert to these
practices against the Sudanese academics and activists, which represent a violation
of their rights and freedoms. As well, we
request him to take urgent steps to ensure the freedom and safety of Mr.
Abdul Qadir Ismail.

اسماعيل من الاعتقال التعسفي وخطر التعذيب
في ١٣ ابريل ٢٠١٦، قامت مجموعة من أفراد جهاز الامن
والمخابرات الوطني باعتقال الاستاذ عبدالقادر اسماعيل وهو باحث واكاديمي بجامعة
امدرمان الأهلية من منزله واصطحابه الي جهة غير معلومة.
وكان جهاز الامن قد داوم
على استدعاء الاستاذ عبد القادر يوميا لمدة اسبوع كامل
قبل يوم اعتقاله وتركه في
مكاتب الامن دون التحقيق معه منذ الصباح الباكر وحتى نهاية اليوم. درج جهاز الامن
على انتهاج هذه الممارسة بغرض إرهاق وتقييد حرية الناشطين والمنخرطين في العمل
العام.
قبل هذه الواقعة تعرض اثنين من الأكاديميين بجامعة
النيلين (الاستاذ حامد الدود والأستاذ عبدالرحمن عبودي) للتهديد والضرب من قبل
عناصر تابعة للحزب الحاكم وهم داخل الحرم الجامعي لجامعة النيلين.
نحن الموقعون على المذكرة أدناه نلفت نظر السيد الخبير
المستقل لهذه الممارسات ضد الأكاديميين والناشطين السودانيين والتي تعتبر انتهاكا
بالغا لحقوقهم وحرياتهم ونطالبه بالتدخل لضمان حرية وسلامة الاستاذ عبدالقادر
اسماعيل باعجل ما يمكن.
