My name is Ahmad.
I am one of hundreds of peaceful activists working tirelessly in Syria to document the violence and ease the worsening humanitarian crisis
through collecting and distributing aid with local organisations.
Before the revolution, I was a university student working to help my poor family. But now I lost my job, and I can’t go to university because the regime is arresting students. We’re accommodating 3 displaced families at home, but we can barely find bread, and heating fuel has become an unaffordable luxury - the humanitarian crisis is hitting us really badly.
World leaders came together to “urge” and “pledge” and “condemn” what is happening in Syria. We’ve been let down by so many of their false promises. I know that the world’s people stand with us but their leaders have abandoned us.
Sometimes we navigate suicide routes under shelling and sniper fire to cross the borders in the hopes that we can get some food and medical supplies in. But then we get there and find out that the resources simply aren’t there, and we have nothing to bring back inside -- despite all the promises and the speeches.
We’re doing our part, we’re taking the risk to deliver aid and share with others but our efforts cannot support everyone. Words cannot describe our situation -- we’re living under constant shelling, innocent civilians, bakeries and hospitals have become “legitimate” targets for the Syrian forces, leaving 2.5 million homeless and in dire need of food, shelter and medication.
We urgently need all the help we can get to save lives in Syria. Please sign my campaign now to tell the world leaders that they must step up their aid efforts for Syria and fully fund the Syrian National Coalition’s aid programme and save the thousands of lives that are in their hands . We need you, who have stood in solidarity with us since the beginning, to come together once again and pressure your leaders to live up to their promises.
