All parties to the conflict in Yemen
Yemen is already battling the world’s worst humanitarian crisis and ongoing war. Now the country faces a new threat: Covid-19.
Support the call for an immediate ceasefire in Yemen!

On April 10, Yemen’s first case of Covid-19 was confirmed. After experiencing more than five years of war, the country is extremely unprepared to manage an outbreak of the pandemic. As new cases and deaths continue to be reported, the pandemic poses a grave new threat for Yemenis.

Yemen is experiencing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. An estimated 10 million Yemenis are on the brink of famine, 20 million have no access to healthcare, and medical facilities are desperately ill-prepared. [1]

UN call for global ceasefire
António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations has called for an immediate global ceasefire. Discussing Yemen, he said: “ I call on all governments and movements involved and their supporters to put an end to this catastrophic conflict and humanitarian nightmare – and come to the negotiating table” . [2]

The recent outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic poses a global threat that requires global solidarity and a focus on joint efforts to face this unprecedented challenge. As much as the coronavirus represents a global threat, it could also be an opportunity to start a new phase of peace.

We call on all parties to the conflict in Yemen to respond to the UN’s call for a global ceasefire and to release all detainees and abductees, including journalists and women.
