Treasure Terreros, don’t trash it Yo Digo NO a la gasolinera

Described by some as a jewel at the easternmost point of Andalucia, San Juan de losTerreros boasts blue flag seas, beaches and cosy coves with free sports facilities and comfort stations. Many of the bars and restaurants don’t close down at the end of the tourist season, making this a year round destination for Spanish and tourists alike.
With Golf, The Geoda and many other attractions nearby, it truly is a beautiful place to live or visit.
With a good road network and proximity to larger towns, many young Spanish families are able to both live and work here.
With varied affordable housing, the Village is also popular with residents and foreign 2nd home owners alike. So what can we add to the centre of this jewel to enhance its appeal? Well, our local Town Hall has chosen to place a petrol station, slap bang in the centre of the crown!!!!!
They have done this without even notifying or consulting us. We are not averse to change where change improves, but this “development” can only detract from the beauty of the village and have a negative effect on local business and residents alike.
Who wants the most prominent feature in their village to be a petrol station?
Who wants free petrol/diesel fumes with their tapas or meal or evening drinks?Who knows what other monstrosities this will open the door to?
We are not opposed to having a petrol station in Terreros. We are opposed to it being at the heart of the village.
We ask the Ayuntamiento to relocate the petrol station to a more suitable position at either edge of the village
And consider the safety aspect. Increased vehicular traffic located opposite the Medical Centre and next to the site of the Annual Fair which attracts lots of children. Increased vehicular traffic causing congestion on a narrow dual carriageway.
This is an accident waiting to happen and so unneccesary.
There are numerous locations along the Avenida Puerta Litoral Andaluz, at both ends of the village, which would afford high visibility for the business, without ruining the attraction of the village, and without the attendant environmental impact.
Please sign this petition and say NO to the Town Hall and
No to the current location of the Petrol Station.
