Croatia, protect non-white people from police violence!
MiGreat M.
started this petition to
Croatian Minister of Tourism & Minister of Interior
Imagine yourself on a
holiday in Croatia
. After a few days on the beach you head to Zagreb to catch your plane back home. But instead, you get
arrested
by police,
robbed
off your phone,
threatened
at gunshot and
deported
to Bosnia. This happened to Alexandro and Kenneth, two Nigerian students with valid visa,
just because they are black!
In Croatia, refugees and migrants - and now tourists too - are systematically hunted down and caught by police officers, then illegally deported to Bosnia. They often get robbed off phones, money and even their clothes, beaten up severely and in the past month, two refugees got shot!
Croatia denies its mistake and refuses to investigate the accusations of police violence. This is our chance to demand change! If we show mass support, we can put pressure on Croatia’s Ministers of Tourism and Interior to make sure police violence against non-white people will end! Sign the petition!
To the Croatian Minister of Tourism and the Minister of Interior,
We are deeply concerned about the maltreatment of non-white people in Croatia. Safety and equality for people of all colours is a prerequisite for us to visit your country. We ask you to do whatever is in your reach to thoroughly investigate and punish those involved in institutional violence against migrants, refugees and non-white tourists.

Update
Kenneth and Alexandro are on their way home, thanks to the efforts of the Bosnian Service for Foreigners and the Nigerian embassy. The Croatian government, however, continues to deport migrants and refugees under horrific conditions, so our fight continues!
