We, the people of Paanyuaa or Anyuak country, known as Gambela, Pochalla, and Akobo, cannot and will never remain divided by colonial transboundary between one family.

We, the people of Paanyuaa, went through hardship, exploitation,
invasion, land grabbing, killing, and genocide. As a result, many people became
refugees, internally displaced, and became stateless around the world.

Why did all these happen
against a tiny society?

The answer is simple—the British
involvement in Anyuak country affairs.

In July 2019, I stepped forward to file a petition to recognize Anyuak land as a nation because the entire Paanyuaa (Anyuak country) was an independent state.

The Anyuak country lies between
Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Kenya to the south. West to Pibor river and the
North West up to Nyium, the present-day Nasir in South Sudan.
It is a land dissected by five
main rivers, the Akobo, Gilo, Alworo, Obooth, and Openo.

This country has nine
Administration States, Adongo, Bat Gilo, Ciro, Lul, Nyikaani, Ojwaa, Openo,
Them, and Tier Naam, which came under one Nyeya (king) rule.

Each state has its administration. They have the right to choose from the two Anyuak political Systems, Nyech (king) or Kwar (headman-ship). Nyec is a system that is inherited from family to family, and Kwar is a public administration decided by the people.

From 19 to the early 20th century, our ancestors faced Sudanese invasions, but no nation got involved in stopping them. In 1910, King Akway decided to modernize our political system and establish coordination between states. In 1911, he retaliated against invaders and pushed them back. However, British involvement in our land on behalf of Sudanese invaders put us in a weak position and collapsed our sovereign nation.

  How did the British empire
destroy Paanyuaa (Anyuak country)?

1)  In 1912, a large force was sent to destroyed Anyuak Country, burned down the villages to avenge the defeated Sudanese invaders. However, they faced
resistance when they approached the central kingdom in the Adongo region.  British intentionally get involved militarily in Anyuak country but no dialogue and
reparation.
2)  In the same year, in 1912, Britain organized a diplomatic protest in Addis Ababa against Paanyuaa and imposed an arms embargo to weaken their power. The British government imposed a sanction until today; it is not removed but no dialogue and reparation.
3)  After eight years of the arms embargo, in January 1920, the British illegally
transferred Gambella from the customs department to Sudan's Upper Nile province. British annex our country to Sudan, but no dialogue, no consultation.
4)  In November 1930, Sir John Maffey and Harold Mac Michael represented Sudan at the coronation ceremonies of Haile Selassie in the renewal of negotiation to convince the central government at Addis Ababa to expand their empire over Gambela". No dialogue, no consultation, which causes bloody
resistance. This is not acceptable.

5)  Again, British representatives from London and Khartoum in Addis Ababa had continually exhorted the Ethiopians to administer the Anyuak of the Gambela in 1932, which coincided with Haile Selassie's determination to consolidate his imperial authority below the bluff. We reject it with the strongest
terms possible.
6)  On April 24, 1956, a Sudanese delegation consisting of Sayyid M. O. Yassein and the permanent undersecretary from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met in Addis Ababa with the Ethiopian vice-minister for Foreign Affairs, Blatta Dawit
Ogbagzy, and, from the Ethiopian Finance Ministry, Ato Menassie Lemma, and
agreed to hand over Gambella to the Ethiopian government on October 15,
1956" without consent of its leaders. No dialogue and consultation with its people. We demand an apology From Sudan
and the British. We will not face the legacy of your government alone. Choose
between cooperation and compensation.

Since the Gambella handover to the Ethiopian Empire in 1956 without its people's consent, none of the
Ethiopian government has indorsed the people of Gambella as equal citizens with the rest of the Ethiopians. Have you seen someone like me in Ethiopian cabinets?

What happened after the British
left Sudan?

A) Inn1964, the Sudanese government committed genocide in Akobo in the name of rebellion and killed 700 to 1000 innocent people in their homes. No dialogue and reparation for the damage.
B) In 1989, SPLM/A committed genocide in Itang and Pinyudo. They also target Anyuak intellectuals who join their Movement—no dialogue and reparation for the damage.
C) In December 2003,
Ethiopians committed genocide against innocent people sitting in their homes,
burning down their livelihood, and pursuing the survivor who runs for their
life to South Sudan. No dialogue and reparation for the loss of life and
properties. British
still there funding their government until now. We did not force ourselves to
be Ethiopian, but Britain persuades them to implement an unfinished colonial
project against us.
D) The
cooperation to destroyed Anyuak country and its people first happened between
the British and Ethiopia, followed by Sudan and Ethiopia. Now it is between
South Sudan and Ethiopia. Enough is enough! Despite dividing us between both governments,
we do not see any of them being responsible for our security and development.
Enough is enough!

What kind of justice do we want?
Today, I am not standing here as an individual. I stand here as a father of four little
girls, a leader and founder of the United Paanyuaa Movement, and the petition's
author to recognize Anyuak land as a nation. So, because of the continuation of
the marginalization, ethnic cleansing, and occupation, today, I am here to
declare the reunification of Gambela, Pochalla, and Akobo, known as Paanyuaa (Anyuak country), without a border between and call for the following:

1)     Any agreements made without our
ancestors' consent to divide our land and its people to subject all the
generations to genocides and marginalization are null and void.

2)     As a united Paanyuaa, we demand
the dialogue with all nations involved in Anyuak country, starting from
British, Ethiopia, and Sudan, because we need to know which country is
responsible for our security, development, and reparation. After learning the
position of Ethiopia and South Sudan, we are going to have three ballot boxes,
one for Ethiopia, one for Paanyuaa, and one for South Sudan. Where the voice of
the majority is found must be recognized and respected.

3)     The British government's responsibility is to apologize and bring Ethiopia, Sudan, and South Sudan to negotiating table under the United Nations watch in Geneva. Your government can not sit in United Nations Security Council with Veto power while exposing the tiny society to genocides and marginalization.

4)     Suppose we hear no response for peaceful negotiation within thirty days from Britain, Ethiopia, Sudan, and South Sudan. In that case, it shall be evident to the international community that there is no nation willing to take responsibility for our security and social development. We shall automatically become independent.

5)     The British government is
responsible for our security until we regain complete control of our land. In
other words, the British must do more to make sure our land returns to it
independently. Your empire got involved to destroyed it. Now it is time for you
to get involved again to restore it.

United Nations, we understood the root cause of the fundamental problem, which involved four nations.
Therefore, it requires UN mediation. As the bible said in the book of Proverbs
31:8-9

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the right of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly, defend the right of the poor and needy.

Today, I am doing the same. Please can you do the same?

   Call to Recognize
Anyuak Country's reunification (Gambela, Pochalla, and Akobo) as a Nation.

This call to action is
supported by indigenous and sign by 28,580,378 Political and Communityleaders
across the world because of numerous threats of genocide, economic,
political, and social marginalization against the people of Paa-Anywaa (Anyuak
Country)

We call upon the United Nations Security Council to get an emergency session and take a vote to recognize our reunification toward the referendum. Your voice to recognize our call is all about survival.
It is time to restore our nation. It is time to recognize this land toward the referendum. It is time to organize our security institution to defend our civilians. It is time to give a chance to democracy and the rule of law to rule this land.

Our goal is to ensure that significant security put in place to restore our sovereignty and protect women and children's lives—the rule of law, democracy, development, and accountability toward modernization.

We make this full call-in support of all efforts to alleviate the massive humanitarian crisis engulfing society for eleven decades. With full recognition, increased protection of civilians' life is urgently required.

Call upon the international donors and humanitarian organizations to provide funding to fully support the United Paanyuaa Movement, which will lead the grassroots campaign for the peaceful referendum that will determine the status of Paanyuaa.

Call upon Biden and Kamala administration, the people of goodwill, recognize our call for freedom through people's will. When we were isolated from the rest of the world, the US was the only nation that sent Christian missionaries in Anyuak country and set up primary education, even though they were forbidden to do more by the enemy of good. Second, today the US is the only nation that hosts many Anyuak refugees in the world. That is why your effort shall remain paramount in our society. So, it is time to hear the people who were overlooked for hundred years.

I call upon the East African community to recognize our call for a peaceful referendum. When you do that, you create a home for thousands of refugees based in Kenya, Uganda, and Southern Sudan.
To western countries, I know your kindness toward refugees
anywhere in the world. However, the best way to help us is to find the solution
to the problems that forced people out of their land by recognizing our call
for freedom.
I call upon China to take away your citizen working in mining areas in our region until we know who is on our side in this difficult time.

To my people who are scattered worldwide, our time has come to determine our future freedom. Above all, our reunification today is the return of our strength. We shall once again fight together and die together. Tell the truth to your friends and your enemy even if it means to die, for the fact shall set you free.

If telling the truth and demand for freedom can mean death, I am ready for that because I know those who do not want us to be free and those
who do not want us to come out of poverty will hate me, but they shall always
fail.

We would rule ourselves even if no nation recognized us, for
we understood the root cause of our marginalization better.

Empires hate us because we refuse to bow down to them.

Neighboring Governments hate us because the British empire
told them to implement the sanction.

Tribes hate us because they were told we are better than
them.

Finally, people hate us because we live in a blessed land
full of abundant resources. However, from today we are more determined than
ever and open for dialogue on all fronts.

God said in the book of
Deuteronomy, chapter 30: 19 . This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses
against you that I have set before you, life and death, blessings, and curses.
Now choose life so that you and your children may live. Today God is a witness
between the United Nations security council and me. Please support our campaign
by logging in at http://unitedpaanyuaa.org

Thanks, may God bless you.

May God bless Paanyuaa.
