FAU Hub

FAU Administration
As African American students at a predominantly white institution, we oftentimes smile in the face of adversity. In the circumstance that we are discarded or underrepresented, we still continue to be resilient and rise above. We recognize that when it comes to the Black community on FAU’s campus, there is a lack of adequate spaces for individuals who resemble us to fellowship within. We see places like the Hillel Center, which is amazing but its sole representation aligns with individuals of the Jewish religion. The Black community makes up 13% of the student body at Florida Atlantic University, we are frequently involved in or founders of organizational programs that have shaped the campus’ communal structure for years. As a way to acknowledge our history on this campus, we propose the construction of a hub or building to honor the progress people of color have made to help establish FAU. The purpose of this building will be for educational and recreational use. It will be the first space on campus that will cater to the needs of people of color and other underrepresented populations here on campus-A safe area for you and I. As a collective, we can band together to make this happen, we encourage that you sign this petition today to make sure this dream becomes a reality. Remember:
"Together we stand, divided we fall”
Thank you.
