Say NO to Chinese Police in EU Countries: Demand Hungary to Retract China Security Pact
Against T.
started this petition to
Galen J. Nace and Boris Ruge (NATO); Josep Borrell Fontelles (EU); Síofra O'Leary (ECHR)
To Galen J. Nace, Director of NATO Office of Security; Boris Ruge, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy; Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy; Síofra O'Leary, President of the European Court of Human Rights:
Allowing Chinese police to patrol the EU territories will imperil our freedom and rights as global citizens and EU residents. We strongly oppose the Hungarian government's security agreement with China at the expense of the EU's integrity. We call on your immediate actions to end transnational policing operated by China in every country where EU citizens can move freely and in the Schengen area.

This is a message from a group of freedom-loving EU citizens and Hongkongers:
A very sinister situation is quietly developing. After a set of meetings in February, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and the Hungarian Ministry of Interior discreetly agreed to have Chinese police officers patrolling the streets of several cities in Hungary.
This is incredibly worrying.
For decades, the People’s Republic of China has been engaging in transnational repression, harassing opponents of the Chinese regime if they dare to speak out, even when they are living abroad.
China has used over 100 so-called “overseas police stations” across 53 different countries to clamp down on freedoms and silence any political opposition. In the most terrible cases, these secretive, transnational operations have succeeded in bringing dissidents back to mainland China, where they face lengthy jail terms, torture, or worse fates.
The new Hungarian-Chinese security agreement would enable police officers sent from a totalitarian regime to openly enforce arbitrary arrests in an EU country, without any need for secrecy. The consequences of this agreement will gravely endanger the Chinese dissident, Hongkonger, Uyghur, and Tibetan diaspora communities living in the free world.
Letting in the Chinese police would be a blatant threat not only to the freedoms of Hungarian people and visitors to Hungary, but also to the sovereignty and security of all countries of the EU and NATO.
We have enough reasons to worry that the presence of Chinese police officers in Hungary could become yet another one of China’s instruments to influence local authorities in the EU, leading to further infiltration of Europe’s institutions and democratic processes by the Chinese Communist Party.
With Hungary being a member of both NATO and the EU, we urgently call for concrete action to halt this dangerous agreement. To all of you who care for the safeguarding of our freedoms, please help us put pressure on the EU and NATO to end this!
