The regional government of Madeira has approved The construction of a 10 kilometer tarmac road through a section of the the Laurissilva forest, a world heritage site.
The construction of this road will promote the spread of invasive plant species, the largest threat to the survival of our ancient forest dating back millions of years of which can only be found in Madeira and few surrounding islands.
The road is not needed and many people are against this construction. Our plan is to grow a large petition which we could present to UNESCO, which could impede the construction. Thank you.
