President Joe Biden's "symptoms continue to improve significantly," following his Covid-19 diagnosis Thursday, the President's physician wrote in a Sunday letter.
Biden's "predominant symptom now is sore throat," Dr. Kevin O'Connor writes, which he ascribes as likely due to "lymphoid activation as his body clears the virus," calling the development "encouraging."
Other symptoms, including rhinorrhea (runny noise) cough, and body aches "have diminished considerably," O'Connor said, while pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature all remain normal.

Physician to the President Dr. Kevin O’Connor provided an update on Joe Biden’s condition Saturday, about 48 hours after the 79-year-old Commander in Chief tested positive for Covid.
In addition to previously noted symptoms of a dry cough, runny nose and fatigue, O’Connor indicated in a letter released today that Biden also has a sore throat and body aches, two common symptoms of the virus.

Case rates no longer mean a darn thing. Even hospitalization rates mean little if they include people hospitalized with COVID on top of smaller numbers hospitalized because of it. Death rates may be a lagging indicator, but if they never rise than there is no real problem.

Dr. Ashish Jha, who is leading the administration’s Covid response, told CNN’s Jeremy Diamond that Biden did not have a fever this morning, but has a runny nose and some fatigue. Biden has been vaccinated and double boosted, but at 79, he is in a higher risk category for serious complications.

Case rates no longer mean a darn thing. Even hospitalization rates mean little if they include people hospitalized with COVID on top of smaller numbers hospitalized because of it. Death rates may be a lagging indicator, but if they never rise than there is no real problem.
(Oh, and why exactly has the city Health Department stopped breaking down results by vaxxed vs. unvaxxed? It says the data’s not clean enough, but you have to suspect our panic-pushing health czar fears people will draw the “wrong” conclusions form the more complete info.)
Look: Time, resources and energy wasted out of foolish panic can’t be spent on issues that are actually far more important.
Evolutionary forces mean new variants tend to be more contagious but also less toxic. In some form the coronavirus will be with us forever, but only as an endemic risk.
