In September 2025, Chinese actor Yu Menglong (Alan Yu) died from a fall. The police concluded it was an “accident after drinking,” yet the lack of publicly available information and widespread social doubts remain unresolved.
For this reason, we solemnly demand:
We call on the public to join this petition to safeguard human rights and information transparency.
Background
We express our deep concern over the fall and death of actor Yu Menglong (Alan Yu) in September 2025.
Recently, online circulation of video and audio materials has raised widespread public doubt. These raise serious questions as to whether the incident was merely an accident or potentially a death caused by non-natural factors.
On the grounds of human rights protection and information transparency, we call for an independent, thorough, and transparent investigation to clarify the facts and respond to public concerns
Official Handling and Issues
To date, Chinese police have not registered a formal case. On 21 September 2025, they concluded with the statement that there was “no criminal suspicion” and that Yu Menglong had “accidentally fallen to his death after drinking.”
Despite intense domestic and international concern, police have not addressed core questions, including but not limited to:
Family statements have so far only been conveyed indirectly in written form, rather than through direct public interviews. Meanwhile, online discussion of the case on Chinese platforms has been subject to large-scale deletion. According to the police’s official notice, some individuals who voiced doubts have even faced coercive measures.
This level of censorship and suppression further deepens public suspicion regarding the full circumstances of the incident and the credibility of the official narrative.
Justice does not arrive on its own—it requires our collective effort. We cannot allow the truth of this incident to be covered up or ignored.
Ｗe are human. Then, we are citizens of the Earth. Finally, we are people of different nationalities.
This time, we ask not about nationality, but about justice.

We, the undersigned, represent society’s demand for the protection of fundamental human rights, judicial fairness, and freedom of expression.
We call on all who care about justice and human dignity to stand with us in demanding:
Call for International Support
We urge Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International to closely monitor this case, and to press the relevant authorities, under international supervision, to establish an independent, transparent, and credible investigation mechanism.
At the same time, we hope the international community will continue to pay attention to the broader issues of human rights and freedom of expression highlighted by this case.

To safeguard the right to life and personal freedom of those working in the entertainment industry, and to prevent potential violence, sexual violence, exploitation, and abuse of power, it is necessary to establish robust mechanisms for oversight and protection. Such mechanisms must ensure the basic rights, workplace safety, and dignity of entertainment professionals.

中國警方至今未立案調查，僅於 2025年 9 月 21 日以「排除刑案嫌疑」與「酒後意外墜樓身亡」作結論。
在海內外輿論下，警方仍未就外界質疑提出說明，例如「排除刑事嫌疑的依據、辦案過程的細節（如法醫屍檢結果、監視器畫面、是否有多人聚會等）、網路流傳的影音資料、媒體口徑一致報導官方版本」等。
迄今家屬意見僅透過書面形式間接表達，尚未有公開直接的受訪，事件相關討論在中國網路平台遭到大規模刪除。根據警方公告，已對部分發聲者採取強制措施。此種高度的言論審查進一步加深外界對事件全貌與官方說法的疑慮。
公道不會自動降臨，它需要我們共同爭取。我們不能允許這起事件的真相被掩蓋或忽視。
