What Happened

In March 2024, Taiwan’s Vice President Bi-khim Hsiao was nearly rammed by a car linked to a foreign diplomatic mission during her official visit to Prague. This shocking incident, occurring in the heart of Europe, was not just an attack on one leader, but a direct assault on democracy itself.

Why it matters

The Czech government confirmed foreign involvement but has withheld details. No one has yet been held accountable. If Europe allows such coercive diplomacy to go unchecked, it endangers every democratic leader who dares to stand up to authoritarian powers.

We, the undersigned, call on the European Parliament and the Czech government to:
  1. Conduct a full, transparent investigation and hold those responsible accountable.
  2. Strengthen EU safeguards against coercive diplomacy and foreign interference.
In light of the risks posed by this incident, WE CALL FOR…
  1. Czech government to conduct a thorough investigation and hold those responsible accountable in accordance with the law
  2. The establishment of a formal “EU–Taiwan Democratic Partnership Framework.” to defend shared values.

#DemocracyHasNoBorders.
What happens in Prague matters to Taipei, Brussels, and beyond.

Together, let us send a clear message: attempts to intimidate democratic leaders will never succeed.
