Stricter Laws for Arsonists in Greece

Over 100 people have been arrested in 2023 for arson.
In July 2023 we had 667 fires within 15 days in Greece.
Over 19.000 prosecutions for arson since 2000 with less than 600 convictions.
Millions of trees burnt, ecosystems destroyed, animals dead or homeless, people losing their lives, their properties and their future.
When will that end?
We demand that immediate action be taken from the government and the law making body so that arsonists pay a heavy price of imprisonment and heavy fines, proportionate to the damage they finally cause, so that nobody has the possibility or appetite to commit again such crimes.
We wish to participate in the law making process, to assist and make sure that the severity of the new laws matches the crisis situation that we are living.
