Saving GELA from turning mainstream

The school board and parents and kids can fight it
hello this is a student from Grand Erie learning alternative, also known as GELA. We have just heard that they want to shut down the school program we have now with little to no information why just to limit the classes. Taking out all the classes like cosmology, cooking class, art, gym all the extracurriculars. Alot of students like me have benefited from the way our school structure is. GELA kids come here that have yet to complete high school but can't be in a real school setting, getting a second chance with them making these cuts it will hurt a lot of students who relied on this alternative education to complete their high school diploma. why want to take kids out of the place they learn the most beneficial way that they've been taught, and be put in classes with 30 students and teachers that can't have as much focus on all the students but the classes we are in now, each class and the teachers will help you/communicate on a student level rather than a teacher level and help you with your specific needs rather than teaching a lesson for multiple kids. we want to keep GELA open for kids that need the extra help, the amount of kids graduating this year from Gela is crazy cause all these kids graduating have never really thought themselves that they'd make it to walk across the stage from how the school system is nowadays for kids who need extra help and can catch up a lot easier then missing one day and have to catch up on 3 assignments in one class with 30 kids that the lessons already been taught but when a teacher is individually helping students and coaching them through the course work instead of just taking notes or having to start assignments everyday our teachers at GELA will sit down and tutor you through it and help you complete the course work equivalating to the same course work in mainstream schools just going at your own pace and a healthy environment to come into everyday with snack programs for the kids who don't get enough at home, a gym program for the kids who don't get time to play sports, a cosmetology program that helps students get into the trade business same with a amazing teacher who is super attentive with students and very hands on teaching. with the foods course you have the ability to get your food handling certificate and food safety for working in the food industry. We have a great art program with sculpturing, building, painting, cricket, 3D printer the art class has access to. But they just want to take our classes and make it mainstream with four mandatory classes and the building empty and all the kids who've spent time here have to pack up all their friends and where they left off in their education and transfer to their homeschool with teachers and peers they have most likely tried before and they don't learn effectively in those environments and that results in not attending school, skipping classes grade average falling down which damages the board's look or the Ontario education system. The school culture is very important part is the students and being able to safe place where they're comfortable and home away from home and how the teachers treat you like humans beings instead of just getting marked on how bad you doing on a test effects your whole grade the teacher structure here is phenomenal and they make the school up on how's it run's and your going to want students to attend the school and feel safe in presence of their teachers and staff who make up GELA so personally i think there should be brought a protest for GELA and the alternative school's being put through all these cuts and switch arounds it's not good for students to be moved around a lot it damages there learning cause who knows if the next school they transfer to has the same teaching ways and circular which slows down the Ontario and Brantford Average for highschoolers and day's skipped. I think no kid should have to learn at any pace other than the one they're comfortable with, it's about the students.
