The match Brazil can’t afford to lose

To President Dilma, National Council of Justice, and the National Congress:

As concerned citizens of the world we urge you to take action now and implement a concrete plan that will crackdown on the the sexual exploitation of our children. Before the next election, we call on you to stop our children falling into the hands of pimps and crackdown on the traffickers and deliver a legacy from this World Cup we can all be proud of.

The match Brazil can’t afford to lose
Half a million girls and boys in Brazil are waking up to a World Cup of tears and cruelty. Instead of being in school, they’re clinging to sheets in hotel rooms, exploited and abused by a child rape trade that is spiralling out of control.

Thousands of tourists and football fans are fuelling the booming rape trade while politicians turn a blind eye. But right now the world is watching Brazil and we have our best ever chance to stop children as young as nine being raped every night by:
  1. Calling on President Dilma to save children before the pimps get them by extending the Bolsa Família social care programme that has lifted millions out of poverty by and create a new special branch of the federal police to crack down on sex trafficking networks.
  2. Then we demand the judiciary creates new child courts to protect abused children and get rapists behind bars.
  3. Finally, we get Congress to pass a law they set to be voted on that will clearly state that sex with a child younger than 14 is classified as rape.
Experts agree that this plan can stop Brazil from becoming the world’s worst child rape country, but it’s going to take all of us to make it happen.

When 500,000 of us back this call, we’ll make this story the legacy debate in the media and and organise a delegation of children to deliver our call into the corridors of power. This is the match we can’t afford to lose. Sign now and share this with everyone you know.
