The UN Observances Committee
Kindness has the power to unify a world troubled by
political, cultural and economic difference.
But more than ever in today’s world, kindness is a quality
which is increasingly lacking in our everyday surroundings.
This is why we need the UN to designate a specific date –
the 13th November each year – to ensure that kindness remains a crucial element in our efforts to make the world a better place.
An International Day of Kindness would celebrate and utilise the power of kindness to help fight against the challenges and turmoil perpetuated by our governmental systems.
It would facilitate the organisation of large‐scale events
(like Kindness Awards Ceremonies recognising exceptional acts of kindness) and smaller (but no less important) feats from individuals across the world.
On top of this, the health benefits which result from
performing acts of kindness are widely recognised by the scientific community, meaning an International Day of Kindness would help to improve individuals’ sense of wellbeing on a global scale.
If the UN recognised the 13th November as
International Kindness Day, it would help improve international awareness of the benefits of expressing kindness in an increasingly troubled world.
This petition is proposed by Kindness UK, a not‐for‐profit
organisation founded in 2010 which is committed to spreading the value of kindness on a local and global scale.
If you agree that the power of kindness should be internationally recognised by the UN each year on the 13th November, please sign this petition.
