My brother is the Canadian who’s just been sentenced to spend 7 years in an Egyptian prison for committing the crime of journalism. Our mother is heartbroken. She doesn’t know if she will live to see her son again. But we believe there is hope. We'd like to ask for your help to push the Canadian government to act so we can bring him home.

Mohamed and his colleagues did nothing more than report on the Cairo protests, and now they’re trapped. But while other countries are fighting to have their citizens released, the response of Canada's leaders has been subdued. Still, Egypt is feeling the pressure from the media -- its President just said he would rather the journalists had been deported, not imprisoned. And if we can show the Canadian public demands action for one of its citizens now, we can get Mohamed home.

The Australian and UK Prime Ministers have fiercely condemned the verdict, demanding the release of the prisoners. Let’s ask that Canada do the same.
