Canada: Free Mohamed Fahmy
To Prime Minister Harper and Minister of Foreign Affairs Baird:
As citizens horrified by the seven-year jail sentence handed down to Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy and his colleagues, we demand you take urgent public action to fight for his release. Canada can never allow domestic or international political concerns to get in the way of our duty to protect our citizens from injustice. Your weak response up until this point has been unacceptable. Act now and push to bring Mohamed Fahmy home.

Mohamed and his colleagues did nothing more than report on the Cairo protests, and now they’re trapped. But while other countries are fighting to have their citizens released, the response of Canada's leaders has been subdued. Still, Egypt is feeling the pressure from the media -- its President just said he would rather the journalists had been deported, not imprisoned. And if we can show the Canadian public demands action for one of its citizens now, we can get Mohamed home.
The Australian and UK Prime Ministers have fiercely condemned the verdict, demanding the release of the prisoners. Let’s ask that Canada do the same. With a loud enough call we can get real action to help free my brother.
