Stop the Modi-fication of India

To Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and leaders of the Janata Dal (United):

Narendra Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat is marked by egregious human rights abuses, particularly against Muslims. On his watch, nearly 1000 people were massacred in 2002. Modi as Prime Minister would be a disaster for India’s democracy and we urge you, as a crucial BJP ally to walk out of the NDA alliance to save India’s unity. India needs strong, visionary leaders not tainted, divisive politicians.

Stop the Modi-fication of India
This weekend, the BJPs political alliance with the Janata Dal (United) might end over Modi, the tainted overseer of a massacre of Muslims, but JD(U) is being lobbied hard to stay. The JD(U) has a meeting to make the final decision -- let's urgently ensure they make the right choice for India and tell the BJP to dump Modi. Please use the form on the right to send a message to the JD(U).

Talking Points
  • Narendra Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat is marked by terrible human rights abuses;
  • On his watch, nearly 1000 people were massacred in 2002;
  • I urge you, as a crucial BJP ally to tell the BJP you will walk out of the NDA alliance to save India’s unity unless Modi is forced out of the election panel and the BJP promises he will not be their Prime Ministerial candidate;

  • Background

    This weekend, a crucial decision will be made on the future of India: the BJPs political alliance with the Janata Dal (United) might end over Modi -- the tainted overseer of a massacre of Muslims -- and his appointment as campaign chief.

    Right now, Modi is the likely PM choice for the BJP, securing a victory for the most extreme elements of the party and putting a man who watched over the murder of hundreds of Indians in broad daylight into power. The JD(U) can draw a line in the sand and declare they will break with Modi's party, but they're being lobbied hard to stay. We can make sure they make the right choice for India and tell the BJP to dump Modi.

    The Janata Dal (United) is meeting soon to make that decision. Let's urgently drown out the BJP's call and help the JD(U) split from Modi's bloody past for good. Use the box on the right to send a message now asking the JD(U) to demand no more Modi.
