To EgyptAir & TUI Executives:

As citizens from across the world, we are horrified by the jail sentences for up to 10 years for Al Jazeera journalists just doing their jobs. We call on you to persuade the highest authorities in Egypt to overturn this outrageous ruling and we pledge not to travel to Egypt until these men are free and human rights are respected.

Three Al Jazeera journalists have just been sentenced to 7 and 10 years in jail for doing their jobs! It’s an outrageous attack on press freedom, and the latest in a slew of repressive moves that are driving Egypt to the brink. But Avaaz has a plan to get the ruling overturned.

The tourism industry in Egypt makes up more than 10% of the entire economy. While the Egyptian leaders are driving the country backwards, the government is desperate to boost travel to the Red Sea and the Pyramids. If we, as citizens from all over the world, make it clear we will not step foot in Egypt until these three men are free, we could push the government to overturn the ruling.

Here’s how we do it -- we build a million person petition to the government and the CEOs of Egypt Air and TUI travel, a big investor in Egypt. Then if they don’t respond we show up outside their desks in key airport hubs and give out pamphlets about the Al Jazeera journalists' injustice and repression in Egypt. Sign up now and tell everyone -- this could be our best chance to help these men to freedom. Journalism is not a crime.
