Nobel Peace Prize for Greek Islanders

To the Norwegian Nobel Committee:

Ordinary residents of Greek islands and other volunteers have been on the front lines of Europe’s refugee crisis for months, opening up their hearts and homes to save hundreds of thousands fleeing war and terror. For their compassion and courage, for treating those in danger with humanity, and for setting an example for the rest of the world to follow, we citizens around the world, nominate these brave women and men for a Nobel Peace Prize. Nobody is more deserving of such honour than these unsung heroes.

Nobel Peace Prize for Greek Islanders
Since the very beginning of the refugee crisis, fishermen, housewives, pensioners, teachers -- all ordinary residents of the Greek islands and other volunteers have opened their arms and hearts to save refugee children, men and women fleeing war and terror.

From rescuing people from the freezing waters to clothing and feeding them; from sheltering to even singing little shivering toddlers to sleep, these unsung Greek islanders have shown to the rest of us the difference we can make when we choose love over fear, and when we let our light shine in the darkest of times.

A petition launched by an Avaaz member asking for the Nobel Peace Prize to be awarded to them for their bravery and compassion is going viral and making headlines in Greece. With the support of our entire community, we can make the call global and help them stand a chance for a Nobel nomination.

Vote in support now and share this with everyone by email, on Twitter, Facebook… everywhere -- Avaaz is working to submit the nomination before the upcoming nomination deadline.
