President Barack Obama:

In order to curb runaway climate change and enact the global effort to restrict climate change to less than 1.5 degrees, we must keep fossil fuels in the ground. Offshore drilling does not pass the 'climate test' you pledged for the Arctic, and new offshore drilling anywhere threatens coastal communities and our climate. That's why I'm asking you to remove the Gulf and Arctic coasts from the proposed five-year program for oil and gas leasing.

Obama: No Offshore Drilling
If we drill any of the oil buried deep under America's Arctic waters, the climate is toast -- it's really that simple. 

But right now Obama could take all offshore drilling, including in the Arctic, off the table for 5 years -- the crucial window where we set our climate's future. 

There is already so much freakish warming happening in the Arctic that one scientist likened it to a planetary "train wreck."  We've got to act now. 

The public comment period closes in a few days -- sign the petition now and we'll get our voices heard ahead of the deadline.
