In days, public hearings to create the worlds biggest protected area are happening in Hawai'i and they’re accepting written messages. Use the message box to say why the reserve should be created. Already 1 million of us have joined the petition. Now, our messages will be delivered directly to decision-makers -- every one could help make the difference.

Here are some talking points to consider when writing a message, but remember -- the more personal the message, the better:
  • We need to set aside as much as 30% in protected areas as soon as possible to save our oceans. Expanding Papahānaumokuākea to the maximum possible size would protect almost 1% percent of the entire Pacific Ocean and be a beacon of hope that it isn’t too late.
  • Over 7,000 species -- a quarter of which can’t be found anywhere else on the planet -- make their home here. We need your help to protect the seals and turtles that can’t speak for themselves, and safeguard this stunning piece of our precious biodiversity.
  • I urge you to take this chance to inspire the world, and write your legacy as the leaders who helped save our oceans.
