ETI Eloquence: Nuance Comunications Inc.
Hello, Avaaz community. Sign this petition and make the happiness of many blind from around the world! For the irreducible and unjustified radicalism of a company goes against the expectations of the world community of the blind, who would like to use your favorite screen reader with the ETI Eloquence, paying a fair price for such use.
One of the most beloved synthesizers in the community of blind in the outside world, for text -to-speech voice is known as ETI Eloquence, which is owned by Nuance Comunications, and which also has a version 4 Sapi called IBM ViaVoice, distributed by Wizzard Software.
Among other functions, synthesizers as these end up being used in screen readers, such as NVDA ( English: NonVisual Desktop Access ), which is a free reader for the blind screens, Maintained by the Foundation NVDA Access Australia.
Despite the great effort of Australian developers and major qualitative growth of this screen reader, many blind users encounter difficulties in adapting to the voice synthesizer called Speak, which is also free, and that is incorporated into NVDA distributions.
As with Android, some companies have tried to market high quality synthesizers to NVDA, but none of them has such sympathy of users, as the ETI Eloquence, or even your IBM ViaVoice brother. Therefore, we rely on your support.
With such a large demand in the blind community, the very NVDA Access unsuccessfully tried to legally provide the ETI Eloquence, or even IBM ViaVoice, at a fair cost to its users, which until now was not possible for difficulties account in talks with Nuance Comunications. Sign this petition and join this movement.
It is known that, after a few failures in the negotiations, as seen in the link below:

in 2014, a company in Spain managed by the Nuance, a contract for the sale of Eloquence on the Android system, for just over $ 20 each license, with the right of use for the 10 languages available, the marketing of which has already exceeded more than 1000 licenses sold, one for me.

There are two Italian companies selling a pendrive with the Eloquence built into NVDA, but these pens cost about $ 120, or about 6 times more expensive than a Eloquence license for Android, with no transfer of any percentage addition to the sustaining foundation of NVDA, a very commendable and sensible practice adopted by some developers of high quality voices also sold for NVDA ; Apart from that, by its shape, such distribution may have problems in adjusting the numerous updates available from time to time for NVDA.
Join us and sign this petition.
So we asked Nuance Comunications, that the effort to negotiate a contract in just and favorable conditions for the legal use of the ETI Eloquence in portable or installed copies of NVDA, such as it is currently distributed to its users, where you can practice a price not much different from that for which they are marketed licenses ETI Eloquence for Android.
