WE ARE WINNING. The dolphin slaughter begins again on Sept 1, 2014. The killing in the Cove of Taiji is brutal, inhumane, goulash, and for A LOT of money. It also provides a small band of so called "fishermen" the chance to participate in "one on one" body contact blood sport. Share this petition widely before 9/1/14. The Taiji dolphin hunters try to HIDE what they are doing under tents as to not enrage the world, but it's not working. The water is red, the suffering real. Allowing these people to commit these actions is no longer acceptable in a world we wish to see in our future. People from all over the world have signed expressing outrage regarding these cruel and UNNECESSARY killings. Dolphins have been declared non-human persons by Romania and India. Their meat, due to high mercury levels, has been declared too toxic to safely eat. Dolphins have saved humans in danger of drowning at sea for thousands of years. They are not fish, but highly complex, emotional, and family oriented mammals. A movie named "the cove" was made to help stop this barbarity, but a small group in Japan, continues to commit these atrocities. It will begin again in Sept., 2014 continuing until March 1, 2014 unless we stop it. We can do it. The dolphins are either sold to aquariums for $150,000 each or brutally killed one on one with hooks in the cove. Mother's and calves are separated ruthlessly. Aquariums like SEAWORLD are now under fire for keeping these intelligent creatures, including Orcas, in too small a space for mental heath. Jacques Cousteau sums it up best when he said “No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal”. The solution lies in MANY voices speaking together. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, US Ambassador to Japan, spoke out against the hunt last January.
