FINA and IOC: Sanction France Water Polo Team and Improve Qualification procedures

The future of the Olympic movement depends on the willingness of competing nations and those organizations who govern sport to insist on the values upon which the Olympics were built. One of those key concepts is 'fair play' - when there is a clear violation of these principles, such as occurred at the Men's Olympic Water Polo Qualification in Trieste, Italy April 7, 2016 - when the French Men's water polo team deliberately lost 5-13 to Canada in an effort to improve it's chances in the critical next round of play, and there is no action taken by FINA, the governing body - then these values are no longer supported in an official way.......serious concerns must be raised. ------ the solution to this immediate problem is for FINA to confirm and sanction the team responsible, to find a suitable replacement for their spot in Rio. This will help to reestablish confidence world-wide that the values of fair play are still important. Next, FINA must replace their qualification procedures with a system that eliminates game fixing as a viable option for the future.
