Finnish Government, Finnish Immigration Service
This May the Finnish Government tightened the Asylum
provision of the Aliens Act. The legislation no longer grants a residence permit on basis of humanitarian protection.

Humanitarian protection used to be granted due to difficult regional conditions. The Finnish Government has removed humanitarian protection based on the fact that many other European countries are planning to remove all humanitarian protection from their legislation.

Finnish Immigration Service and its Director of Asylum Unit, Esko Repo, have also updated their assessment on the security situation in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia. According to the Immigration Service, all areas in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia are safe enough to return to. In the Immigration Service's press release Esko Repo stated that it is currently possible
for asylum seekers to return to all areas in aforementioned countries without the ongoing armed conflicts as such presenting a danger to them.

Let's show the Finnish Government that the policy they are executing is inhumane. In addition, we also want to put pressure on the other European countries planning to do the same changes - we want people to be protected under humanitarian protection!
