Google: Bring Google Fiber to Mauritius
Ocho R.
started this petition to
Google Inc.
Mauritius, a rapidly growing hub for outsourcing and IT, often referred to as a 'Cyber Island' is a country with an incredibly slow broadband connection, with most users hovering around an average 2mbps (if that) with a somewhat shaky track record in terms of stability and support.
Even with Orange Mauritius, the local telecom monopoly, rolling out a Fiber Optic network, the 30mbps on offer is far below what will be needed in the future. We want to let Google know that we need them to bring Google Fiber to our little island, with speeds of up to 1000mbps, 1 Gigabit per second, we think that they have what it takes to truly help shake things up and make this a 'Cyber Island'.
At the very least, this petition will have people talking, and hopefully get Orange to take notice - rolling out 30mbps isn't much of a step up, but rather a nod to obsolescence. We're not begging, we're not sulking, we want progress. Let's all sign this petition to let Orange MT know that we need solutions, slow connections at high prices aren't the way forward. If we rally together, we can bring about change.
Thank-you for signing.
