MAXAM! STOP selling explosives to mafia like companies in Romania!

José Fernando Sánchez-Junco Mans Chairman & CEO, Lucas Ferreira Communications Director
MAXAM explosives are being used without basic security measures and on a large scale for illegal and destructive shale gas explorations in Romania by a more than controversial company called s.c. PROSPECTIUNI S.A., owned by a member of the former communist secret police, wellknown as one of THE "mafia businnesmen" in our country.
S.c. PROSPECTIUNI S.A.not only violates basic human rights of the land owners in Transylvania (i.e. in the UNESCO words heritage site of MOSNA/MESCHEN) but operates with tons of MAXAM explosives in a way that puts the safety and life of the locals in danger. As a proof, a farmer from MOSNA, who is regularly being threatened and whose land is being regularly trespassed by the company's employees, was able to take packages of explosive in his hand, without being hindered by security personal in doing so. Just imagine bad intentioned persons knowing how easy it is to steal MAXAM products in Romania!

José Fernando Sánchez-Junco Mans, Chairman & CEO of MAXAM says in a statement that
"Our aim is that our contribution to the value chain of our clients, in any part of the world, is transformed into progress and sustainable development for society as a whole". This all sounds generous but at the same time almost cynical, when seing how MAXAM products are being abused in the EU member state of Romania, by a company that is aiming at anything else but "sustainable development for society as a whole".

Meanwhile, we, the affected inhabitants of Romania will file criminal complaints against s.c. PROSPECTIUNI S.A. as well as MAXAM with Romanian state authorities for breach of the Arms and Ammunition's Law No. 295/2004, demanding to halt any sale of MAXAM explosives in our country, as long as MAXAM and its customers are not able and/or willing to ensure the legal and safe use of MAXAM products on the territory of Romania.
