WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP NATURAL THERAPIES ALIVE AND PROFFESSIONALLY RECOGNISED. . Mr Turnbull quotes: After consultation with the private health insurance and medical sector, the Government has agreed to stop insurers from offering benefits for a range of natural therapies, such as Bowen therapy or Rolfing. This will be phased in by April 2019. Greg Hunt ‐ Minister of Health stated “private health insurance will no longer cover natural therapies, including aromatherapy, Bowen therapy, Buteyko, Feldenkrais, herbalism, homeopathy, iridology, kinesiology, naturopathy, Pilates, reflexology, Rolfing, shiatsu, tai chi and yoga. This move comes after a recent review by the Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer found that there was no clear evidence of the efficacy of these therapies.” – Sydney Morning Herald website 13/10/17 What happened to our right of choice, If we are sick we are taken care of by the medical fraction which we are most grateful – but if we choose to take our health into our own hands and follow preventative action by looking at many natural therapies we then are penalised. How many people are aware that for every medication you take there are approximately 6 side effects to be dealt with. Hence the reason for many people on the planet now seeking out natural therapies. As stated above, this change was the result of a review by the Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer who found no clear efficacy of these therapies.
