We the undersigned want the DBIA to abolish the Downtown Ambassador Initiative. The private policing of public space has no place in Peterborough.
The Downtown Ambassador Initiative will push poor people out of public spaces in the interests of downtown businesses, leading to intimidation, harassment and the criminalization of those facing mental illness, poverty, and homelessness.
We the undersigned want to live in a vibrant community, open and welcoming to all, not an outdoor mall with security guards. The private policing of public space has no place in our city. Abolish the initiative now.
