South Africa has a severe shortage of electricity generation capacity due to a lack of investing in extra power stations, poor maintenance and incompetence in building new power stations.
The country is suffering with companies not able to produce, having to work short time. This also hampers expansion and job creation. Residents are also suffering constant power cuts
We need Independent Power Producers. While Eskom controls the transmission system, this is a barrier to the extra capacity that is needed.
