EU: Don’t poison our air and our politics

Big business wants to scrap protections that keep our air safe to breathe and allow women to take a decent amount of time off work when they have a baby. But we can stop two men at the top of the European Commission taking an axe to these vital policies.
Air pollution costs billions and causes 400.000 premature deaths each year. But, rocked by a tax avoidance scandal in his native Luxembourg, new Commission boss Jean-Claude Juncker is ultra-sensitive to public opinion right now. So we can get him to ignore the loud lobbying from Europe’s biggest businesses, and listen to us instead.

We need to move fast -- the Commission’s work programme will be inked in days. Sign the call for strong air quality and maternity leave measures -- when enough people sign, we’ll stage an action with gas masks urging Juncker and his deputy Timmermans to stop big businesses poisoning our air and our politics.
