Trinity College Dublin
In a world where the noble pursuits of championing human rights, free speech and free inquiry are hindered by proponents of fascist ideologies, universities are supposed to be safe havens for the former.
With the recent events surrounding the cancelling of Maryam Namazie's talk ''Apostasy and the rise of Islamism'', the ideals of the enlightenment have been set aside to appease the far right Islamist movement that is obviously hellbent on silencing any opposing voices.
Islamist promoting the Death penalty for apostasy speak at Trinity College Dublin without any restrictions yet you add restrictions to speakers who oppose them and defend the human right of Muslims and ex-Muslims to dissent.
We insist that TCD facilitate a speech by Maryam Namazie without any restrictions and thereby help ensure that free expression and the right to criticise religion and the religious-right are not denied.
