We are calling upon our Government to grant Khaldoon Sinjab and his family asylum in the UK.

Khaldoon is a quadriplegic Syrian refugee currently living in perilous conditions in Lebanon (having fled from Syria almost two years ago).

At the age of 17, he had an accident in which he suffered a severe spinal cord injury and diaphragm paralysis. As a result, he depends on an electrical ventilator to breath, and is now only able to move his tongue. Electricity in Lebanon is cut off for about 12 hours a day, putting his life at risk every single day.

Not only is Khaldoon a refugee fleeing the conflict in Syria, but it is also clear that his medical needs cannot be met in Lebanon. He says: " I have faced the most dangerous situations of my life here in Lebanon (more than when I was in Syria)... My dependence on both Electricity and Internet to survive makes Lebanon a country that can’t provide even the basic needs for my survival. All I want is an adequate environment to breathe and live. "

Khaldoon has become an inspiring international figure, who, despite the hardships he has suffered, has persevered and has learnt to adapt. He is able to work from home, and financially support himself and his family, using a specially adapted computer.

It is unacceptable that someone as vulnerable as Khaldoon have to suffer in the manner that he has. We are calling upon our Government to do what is morally right and to offer this amazing and inspirational man asylum in this country.
