Fictionhunt is now back up, and it looks like it's staying that way.
This is a rebuttal to the petition found here:
https://secure.avaaz.org/en/petition/Fictionhuntcom_To_remove_all_stories_until_they_are_given_full_...

As there is only a way to sign this petition, and no way to voice your views in disagreement with it, this petition provides a biased standpoint of the views of the fanfiction community. This petition is to give the other side of the argument a voice.

Fictionhunt is a site where the Harry Potter fanfictions posted on fanfiction.net get posted. However the author of the other petition makes it seem as if the site owner does this without giving credit to the authors, which is incorrect. There names are listed and links to their fanfiction profiles given.

As a writer and reader of fanfiction I was thrilled when I discovered fictionhunt because it meant that favorite stories that had been deleted on fanfiction were up there and I could still read them. Asan author it is comforting to now that if my stories get deleted on fanfiction.net they will be there on fictionhunt for those who enjoyed them to read them.

Additionally, as the writer of the other petition stated herself, the maker of fictionhunt has already agreed to take down an author's stories from his site if the author requests it.

Fictionhunt is not, as the other writer paints it, some kind of evil den of plagarism, but a place that allows for increased viewing of a story, which most fanfiction writers want, and a safety net if one's story is deleted on fanfiction.

And so this is my plea: bring back fictionhunt! Don't let a few people, many of whom may have only read the other petition and not researched fictionhunt themselves, frighten and bully the creator into taking down his wonderful site! Let our voices be heard too!
