Stop slavery at sea

To Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, EU Commissioner Karmenu Vella, and Fisheries Ministries worldwide:

As citizens from all around the world, outraged by the brutal enslavement of thousands in the Thai fishing industry, we call on the Thai government to take immediate and concrete action to crack down on this human trafficking. Unless urgent action is taken to regulate immigration and the fishing industry, strengthen and enforce human rights laws, and complicit officials are held to account, we support the imposition of trade bans on the Thai fishing industry. There is no place for slavery like this in the 21st century.

Stop slavery at sea
Bought, beaten, and forced to work day and night on Thai slave ships, thousands of Burmese and Cambodian migrants have no hope of freedom or even seeing land again. But a global public outcry at this very moment could free them from slavery.

Thailand’s military rulers are feeling the heat -- the US has blacklisted Thailand for human trafficking and the EU recently gave Thailand a 6 month deadline before imposing a trade ban. If we hit the Thai authorities right now with a global outcry to crackdown on slavery in their fishing industry, we can get them to jump start real reform.

Join the call to put an end to slavery at sea -- once we’re one-million strong, we’ll let the Thai Prime Minister know on massive billboards he can’t miss! Sign and share with everyone you know.
