The Energy East Pledge of Resistance
TransCanada’s cynical game plan to manufacture support for their Energy East pipeline was just leaked, exposing a desperate attempt to help push tar sands oil on the planet. But this leak gives us a major chance to show that TransCanada is as toxic as the oil they would like to pull from the ground, and to demonstrate just how loud the opposition to this horrific pipeline really is.

The focus of the leaked documents is on manufacturing a pro-pipeline grassroots through paid tactics and slick PR tricks. In fact, one of the documents says: TransCanada's "overall first-year recruitment goal is 35,000 advocates." It is clear that the court of public opinion is critical in the fight to build Energy East, and we need to show that the real grassroots is loudly standing against this pipeline.  
  
Let’s do some tar sands ju-jitsu, using TransCanada’s own efforts against them. If 35,000 of us pledge to oppose the pipeline -- and recruit 1 new person to do the same -- we can show that people-powered action is twice the size and strength of TransCanada's manufactured supporters. Sign the pledge to oppose the Energy East pipeline and help get 35,000 more to stand with us against TransCanada.
