EU: End the terror in Syria
To EU Foreign Affairs Chief Catherine Ashton and EU Foreign Ministers:
We call on you to stop the deadly terror in Syria by immediately imposing an arms embargo and asset freezes, economic sanctions and travel bans on the Syrian leadership, and to support protesters' demands for far-reaching reform and accountability. The EU can play a crucial role in championing the aspirations of the Syrian people, who are risking everything to reclaim their rights and their dignity.

One writes, "Many of my friends/activists are missing. I don't know whether they have been arrested, dead or lying in a hospital somewhere." More than 400 civilians have been killed this week. In this intense crisis, let’s stand with our brave friends and urgently call on the EU, which maintains strong ties to Syria, to impose immediate sanctions on the leadership.
If enough of us urge the EU to enforce tough sanctions and an arms embargo now, we can help fracture the regime, encourage defections in the army and sustain demonstrators risking everything to break out of a lifetime of oppression. Let's build a petition now for strong and urgent action, which we will deliver to EU Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton and top EU officials meeting to discuss Syria later this week. Add your voice, and forward widely:
