Taking aim at the BBC
In his Cabinet appointments this week, Cameron just declared war on an unlikely target - the BBC. With the NHS on life-support, another great British institution faces a nasty battle to stay intact.  

Opposition insiders have just warned that the Conservatives, angry with their election coverage, repeatedly threatened the BBC with retribution if they took power. And with John Whittingdale, a vocal critic of the BBC, being appointed as the new Media and Culture Minister, that may be just around the corner.

The BBC is loved by the people of this country and it’s deeply worrying that our democratically elected government is now looking to punish an independent broadcaster. The impartial voice it brings to our politics shouldn’t be silenced -- Britain needs a BBC that’s protected not persecuted.
