Help Indigenous Peoples Reclaim the Amazon

Help Indigenous Peoples Reclaim the Amazon
With so much horror in the world, we have a rare opportunity to do something remarkable.

We're in touch with the Inga People of the Amazon rainforest, in Colombia. Their home was once one of the Earth's most vibrant places -- giant otters, translucent tree frogs, spider monkeys, macaws in the canopy.

But it's now in one of Colombia's highest-deforestation zones.

Chainsaws, oil drilling, and bulldozers are poisoning the rivers and stripping their land to stumps. The Inga aren't just guardians of this rainforest, they're part of its living fabric. And if the forest disappears into memory, so too will the Inga and their culture.

So Avaaz and Indigenous leaders are fighting back. We're launching a bold plan to reclaim more than 6,000 hectares of Inga territory, bringing back the forest, tree by tree.

Families are ready to replant thousands of native species, helping to revive the forest and its rivers. And they’ll be restoring ancient forest gardens, bursting with fruit, medicine, and memory. For the Inga, this is about honouring the bond between people and planet that so much of the world has forgotten.

We can help restore this rainforest. If enough of us chip in, the Inga can revive the land with the tools, seedlings and equipment they need -- protecting their home and way of life for generations to come.

If you know in your bones the Amazon is worth defending, and want to create lasting change -- then become an Amazon defender today. Help the Inga bring the rainforest back to life. Donate now.
