Lula: Don’t poison the Amazon!
To President Lula and the Brazilian government:
As global citizens, we urge you to immediately stop all new oil projects affecting the Amazon, halt any approvals that are in process, and lead the way towards a global phase-out of fossil fuels with science-based deadlines. Brazil must protect the Amazon and commit to a fossil-free future — before it’s too late.

Brazil’s President Lula is making a big push to approve an ecological time bomb at the mouth of the Amazon River. This would open the floodgates to massive oil drilling where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean.
And he’s doing it while getting ready to host the most important global climate summit of 2025.
This project could cause catastrophic oil spills and poison Indigenous Peoples’ lands. Even worse, oil companies are seeing it as the starting point to fast track approval of dozens more dangerous projects in the same region!
We only have a couple of weeks to change Lula’s mind before he opens the oil drilling auctions. This isn’t just Brazil’s fight. If the Amazon falls, we all pay the price – and over 30 million people and countless species depend on this vital ecosystem to survive. Indigenous leaders are already mobilising to block the project. Now we must raise our voices to join their resistance and show Lula the world is watching. The Amazon is not his to sacrifice!
