It sounds like an episode of American Horror Story.

A female cow locked into a head brace and mounted by up to six bulls, until both of her legs were broken and her body was “torn up.” Pigs bred so large they produce twice the amount of piglets than normal, so sows end up crushing many of them to death as a result. A decade-long experiment with “easy-care” sheep with lambs that are born in open fields, where they often starve, are eaten by predators or freeze to death.

All of this is happening at a little known federally funded sprawling research complex on the plains of Nebraska called the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center.
